Choosing a provider for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for your child is an important, personal decision. You want to assess both the center’s approach to ABA therapy and the staff – the therapists, supervisors, and the team who will be interacting with you and your child.
You can learn about a center’s approach to therapy through their website and phone calls (check out our approach to ABA therapy here). But how do you learn about the staff when making your choice? At Innovative Behavior Options, we like to spotlight members of our rock-star team so that you can learn more about the outstanding people who work in our Roswell therapy center and with our IBO families. We know that we have the best staff in the business, and we want to give you a chance to get to know the team.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to our truly outstanding Director of Administration, Kristen!
Atlanta Area ABA Therapy Staff Spotlight
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I was born and raised in Tennessee, but I have gotten to experience several cultures in my life. I have lived in or visited Guam, Korea, Japan, and for about four years I lived in Washington state. I have been married to my husband for 10 years, and we have two beautiful daughters, Nora (6) and Charlotte (2).
What is your role at IBO?
As the Director of Administration, I help organize the new clients and families joining IBO, as well as training, and employee management. I was in the military for eight years and then joined the marketing team for T-Mobile in Seattle, WA before joining IBO remotely in 2018.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Many of you might not know, I work from my home office in Tennessee where I help answer new client questions and concerns, navigate insurance billing with our team and clients, and organize BCBAs clients and caseloads. Most of my day is spent on the phone – just leave me a message and I’ll get back to you
What interested you initially about this type of work?
I have family and close friends who are BCBAs and own practices. There is always room for more help and coordination in this busy world. I had a friend ask me to start helping her figure out how to grow and manage her team and from there I joined IBO to do the same.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love helping clients get started with therapy and navigate all the changes in the Autism community. We are here to help at IBO, and I greatly enjoy playing a role in that.
What is the best part of your week?
Knowing that the BCBAs/RBTs and clients are working well with each other and are learning and growing every day.
What causes are you passionate about?
I am passionate about moms and helping them learn and grow in community. I run a branch of a small nonprofit in my downtime that helps connect mothers to other women in their community and the resources they need to do so.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned recently?
My children are really into animals right now and we were watching baby kangaroos and how they grow and develop. Did you know they start out the size of a peanut?! Development is crucial to life, and I love learning more about that from our clients and in nature.
What puts a smile on your face?
Knowing we are making a difference in families’ lives at IBO. Parent training is something that our BCBAs have truly learned to develop over the last several years and I love getting feedback from parents saying how much they appreciate the parent training aspect of ABA and how it helps them grow in their parenting as well.
Kristen’s experience and expertise, as well as her passion for helping families, have made her an invaluable asset to our team and clients. If you’re interested in learning more about ABA therapy, check out our website or give us a call at 770-250-0093.
