When it comes to applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, a center’s approach to ABA therapy and the staff—the therapists, supervisors, and team—matter greatly. At Innovative Behavior Options, we create individualized therapy plans for each of our clients, and we partner with parents and teachers to help families reach their goals. And our staff is the best in the business.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to rock-star BCBA Latanya!
Atlanta Area ABA Therapy Center Staff Spotlight
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and I’ve been a certified professional since 2016. I have a master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in Advanced Applied Behavior Analysis. In the field of ABA, I have worked with children of various ages, in a variety of settings, including home/community, center, and school. Prior to moving to Georgia, I also worked in both Florida and Maryland.
I truly enjoy working with children and share in IBO’s mission to create individualized programs for each client that will facilitate them reaching their highest potential. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to improve the lives of the children and families I encounter through my work.
How long have you been part of the IBO team?
I am relatively new to IBO – I started in January of this year (2021). Prior to IBO, I worked for another ABA company in the GA metro area as a BCBA.
What is your role at IBO?
As a BCBA, I provide supervision and case management to clients and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). This includes completing assessments, parent training, developing programs and much more.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Typical day, ha! What is that? There are no typical days as a BCBA – each day is different in various ways.
What interested you initially about this type of work?
I knew I wanted to work in the field of Psychology, I had an interest in human behavior, and I knew I liked working with children. ABA brought this together for me in an almost perfect way.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The kids, of course!
What is the best part of your week?
I have to say Friday, when the week has wound down, I’m looking forward to the weekend, and I can truly say, “not bad” to a productive week at work.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned recently?
The most interesting thing I have learned lately is that meditation can rewire your brain to react differently to stress and anxiety over time with continued practice.
What puts a smile on your face?
Seeing the kids happy and hearing parents say that something happened for the first time or that they can really see the progress, even if it is “small” – my clients’ successes really put a smile on my face.
Latanya’s energy and her dedication to our clients make her an invaluable member of our team!
